Sand Sports Super Show: This is what an annual ISDRA Permit looks like. The Sand Sports Magazine staff purchases several of these each year, and have been doing so ever since they were first implemented.

Permit Fee Increase For ISDRA 2013-14 Season

Glamis visitors should expect to see higher fees to use the dunes this season
By Michael Sommer | September 18, 2013

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recently announced that the user fees for the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area (ISDRA) will increase over the amount that was charged last year. Several factors come into play which caused the BLM to have to increase to visitor fees, most of which are the day-to-day costs of managing the site. These costs have been on a steady rise over the past decade, while visitors and revenues have fallen steadily since 2007, according to the BLM. The fee hike will help fund emergency medical services, law enforcement, search and rescue, and facilities maintenance which includes the vault toilets and trash service.

Weekly fees will increase $10, to $35 for those purchased off-site and $50 for those purchased on-site; season permits will now cost $150, a $60 jump.

If you are planning to attend the Sand Sports Super Show, may we suggest purchasing your annual permit from one of the non-profit organizations in attendance, such as the ASA. A portion of the permit cost is returned to the organization and used for legal fees and other administrative costs.

You can also purchase your permit from the BLM at the SSSS, or visit their website for additional information about the ISDRA and where to purchase weekly permits if that is what you prefer.
