The Sand Sports Super Show added a new attraction this year, thanks to the efforts of Cort Elgar and several owners of vintage sand cars and dune buggies. The show staff dedicated space in Building 14 for the exhibit and there was everything from an original Meyers Manx dune buggy and a Meyer’s Tow’d, to a unrestored buggy created from a Volkswagen Bug floorpan, and several water pumper buggies built in the 1950s and ‘60s complete with dual-paddle rear tire setups. The vibe in the exhibit was that enthusiasm and excitement from people of all ages, especially the younger spectators who had never seen buggies of this type in person. Take a look at these photos and enjoy a historical look back in time to what the equipment was like in the sand dunes, more than 30 or 40 years ago.

Andy Chandler was lucky enough to get his hands on a buggy that previously belonged to Andrew Buck of Buckshot Racing. This X3 is unique, fast, and it looks nicer than ever thanks to Andy's hard work.
