Until now, the only gatherings that have happened at the sand dunes dedicated strictly to UTV owners have been limited to business owners and manufacturers in the "UTV Industry." Mike McGroarty of Idaho Dunes RV wanted to change the way people enjoy their side-x-sides at the dunes, and was also looking for a way to encourage people to pack up their toys and head to Idaho. Working closely with Jon Crowley of UTV Guide and Dave Kuskie of Fullerton Sand Sports, they created an event open to all UTV owners that wanted to enjoy of weekend of fun times in the sand dunes. The event featured a dealer & manufacturers display area, games of skill such as the UTV teeter totter, Horsepower Wars where people could strap their car onto the dyno, and there was also live music and good food for everyone.

The event was scheduled for the Labor Day weekend, as it's still going on as we write this report. There have been lots of group rides through the dunes, and many of the participants have been blown away with the size of the St. Anthony dunes during the many group rides that have taken place. Some of the organized rides have taken the duners from one end of the dunes to the other, visiting popular areas such as Choke Cherry Hill and Devils Dune.

We will have a full story on the event after we edit all our photos and sort through the information. And we also have a special Digital Publication in the works that will be dedicated entirely to this event, which will be released within the next few weeks and it will be Free of charge. You will be able to view the publication on the Sand Sports Website and Facebook Page. Until then, we hope you enjoy this preview which was sent to us from Neal Rideout who is still at the Idaho Dunes. Enjoy!
This photo shows just a portion of the Vendor Row area, which had displays from many of the top name businesses in the off-road industry. Even the Idaho National Guard showed up — in support of the event by bringing out their climbing wall for people to have some recreational fun.
Dobeck Performance of Montana brought their portable dyno and conducted a Horsepower Wars event that was free to participants.
Vehicles with all types of engine configurations participated in the Horsepower Wars. It was a learning experience for many, and also provided some people with options for increasing the performance of their UTV.
One of the coolest vehicles we saw at the event thus far was this tricked out XP 1000 from the crew at TMW Off-Road. This company has a team of dedicated and knowledgeable professionals who understand how to modify and upgrade just about every make and model of UTV on the market.
Not every vehicle at the event was a UTV. We even saw a few trucks, buggies and ATVs. Check out this awesome drag quad belonging to Dave LaRoche of Billings, Montana. Looks like he's ready for a race! Any takers?
Doug Tolbert was the official winner of the UTV Teeter Totter event. This is a fun game of skill that shows the driver's ability to control their UTV. Congratulations Doug!
This is the awards presentation for the UTV Teeter Totter event. First place went to Doug Tolbert (left), Casey Cooper took Second Place, and Bill Holesworth earned the Third Place award. Everyone was presented with prizes sponsored by Rigid Industries.
